Accessibility For The Visually Impaired

We understand that accessibility for the visually impaired is an important consideration in website design.  Digitalbook.io already uses high-contrast text, but in an effort to make the site more accessible we have introduced the magnification button.

How it works?

Simply click the icon in the top right-hand corner of our book pages to make the text bigger. Your preference will be saved across the site.

Accessibility for the visually impaired is an aspect of website design that is often overlooked.  We’re working hard to provide the same experience for everyone using our site.

According to the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB), in the UK someone begins to lose their sight every 15 minutes.

What next for accessibility?

The magnification button is just a small measure we’ve taken to start making our website more accessible. Work is also underway to make the screen reader compatible for the totally blind. By doing this we hope to open up Digitalbook.io to a wider audience.

We also want to encourage other website owners to incorporate accessibility options into their designs. The aim should be to make services available to everyone.
