Twenty Sonnets

The English poet Robert Southey was born in Bristol in 1774 and held the post of Poet Laureate from 1813 until his death in 1843. These twenty Sonnets were written between 1794 and 1799 while Southey was living in Westbury, a village outside Bristol. (Summary by Alan Mapstone)
